Customer needs accurate detail of the space available to allow the installation of new equipment and connection of services into and out of the building.

Techniques employed –

• Laser scanning site capture.
• Registration and QA checking of captured data.
• Preparation of accurate 3D as-built model including building walls, floors, ceilings, existing structure, duct work, piping, electrical & equipment.
• Less than 2 days on site.
• Area of interest 50m x 50m x 7m.

Deliverables –

• Accurate point cloud of building space to allow the design of new generators, inlets & exhausts.
• Offset’s own Smartpanoramic solution to allow specified users easy secure access to hosted point cloud images.
• Accurate as-built model prepared in Autodesk Inventor format.

Challenges –

• Working on a CDM site, liaising with the principal contractor and several sub-contractors.
• Working alongside other sub-contractors in a safe and considerate manner.
• Preparation of applicable RAMS.
• Dealing with site hazards including contamination issues, height restrictions & confined access.
• Capturing areas used for temporary storage and excluding these temporary items from the 3D model.
