Offset use photogrammetric techniques in preference to laser scanning for these projects to ensure total coverage of plant items, including tie in information. Project staff also find that the deliverable of an intelligent photographic database is a more intuitive tool.Streamlining data collection from offshore installations reduces staff exposure to risk by reducing offshore visits.
This also has the benefit of reducing travel and accommodation costs.
Delivered 3D models are usually in PDMS format, layered in a standard format and can contain tag information taken from drawings provided by the client.
Offset have worked closely with both clients and client's fabricating contractors, often capturing both offshore and new build onshore fabrications prior to shipping, ensuring clash free installation projects and revamps through the use of 3D technology.
