Nuclear as-built projects

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail
Offset Services Ltd have extensive project experience of capturing as-built data at nuclear installations around the world.

A variety of technologies have been used, including remote surveying, and photography using robotic access.

Accurate as-built 3D models and visual databases - produced using Offset's photogrammetry technology - offer many advantages:
  • Use comprehensive photo survey to eliminate site visits by staff (No ALARP assessment required)
  • Navigate photographic archive using a simple 3D interface
  • Ability to take accurate measurements from photographic database (Including the ability to measure from one photograph to another, possibly at the opposite end of the plant)
  • Photographs provide an accurate and irrefutable asbuilt archive
  • Intelligent 3D CAD models can be produced from the photographs.
  • Isometrics, 2D drawings, material take offs, etc can all be extracted from the 3D CAD model
  • Enhance contractor/operator communications via photographic and CAD generated visualisations
  • Ideal to establish a baseline asbuilt, especially where legacy documentation is difficult to obtain or incorrect, prior to major decommissioning projects
  • 3D model can enable virtual simulation and enhanced risk assessment of hazardous engineering operations
  • Design modification planning & visualisation

Nuclear projects

Nuclear projects undertaken by Offset include:

  • Full photogrammetric survey and 3D PDMS model of B30, Sellafield. This project delivered nearly 7000 photographs in visual database format, reducing the requirement of further site visits by design staff. Also the production of a PDMS 3D model cross referenced with plant tag numbers from drawings supplied by BNFL.
  • Technology, services and training supplied to JNFL contractor Shinseigiken, for full survey and visual database production of the new Rokkasho-mura reprocessing plant in Japan.
  • Full photogrammetric survey and 3D PDMS model build of all exterior aspects of B211, Sellafield, including complex roof equipment. Magan Jr Visual database also supplied.
  • Extensive survey and 3D modeling of B205 in cell and tower volumes, Sellafield. Data supplied in PDMS and CAMS format.
